Starting 6th January 2025, Microsoft will begin upgrading most people to the new Outlook experience. This update is part of Microsoft’s ongoing effort to improve performance, streamline the interface, and enhance integration with Microsoft 365 apps.

Why Is This Happening?

The new Outlook is designed to be faster, more reliable, and packed with new features, like an improved calendar and more customisation options. However, Microsoft is also phasing out the older version, so eventually, everyone will be using the new version.

What If You’re Not Ready?

If you’d prefer to stick with the classic Outlook for now, you can switch back using the toggle in the top-right corner of your Outlook window. Keep in mind that this option will only be available for a limited time as Microsoft fully transitions us all.

For IT Managers:

If you’re managing the rollout for your whole team, Microsoft provides tools to oversee the upgrade centrally. If you’re on an Enterprise license, your switch won’t happen until 1st April 2026, giving you extra time to prepare.
